Temp to Perm Placements Doing Well

The Recruitment & Employment Confederations monthly Jobs Outlook survey has this month revealed that the number of temporary workers going on to become permanent employees has increased, despite predictions on the contrary.

After the government implemented the latest EU Agency Workers Directive, temp to perm placements were expected to suffer with fees lowering and employees more likely to avoid this option.

The latest data from the REC Industry Research Unit has served to highlight the crucial role that temporary work plays in providing an important stepping stone into the jobs market.

If you are a candidate who is considering temporary work as a way of finding a permanent job feel free to call Yellow Cat Recruitment for advice or information on the latest temp vacancies. Alternatively, if you are an employer who is looking to hire and would like to discuss the benefits of temp to perm workers, please get in touch.

Yellow Cats Top 10 CV Blunders!

Here at Yellow Cat Recruitment we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to assist some of the capitals highest calibre candidates in the Media, Marketing and Business Support field. Every day we receive numerous CVs from people with interesting backgrounds and impressive career histories.

As an agency we receive over 100 CVs a day and are often impressed by the time and effort that is put into some of the applications we receive. A CV is seen as a first foot in the door and a way of introducing yourself to prospective employees. It is therefore expected to be well presented, engaging and, most importantly accurate. Unfortunately this is not always the case!

Over the years we have seen numerous errors on candidate CVs, some have been honest mistakes whilst others that have been catastrophic! Below is our top ten from the past few years. We hope you find them as amusing as we did!

1. "Received a plague for Customer Service Executive Of The Year 2007"

2. "I left this position to go on maturity leave"

3. "I failed both exams with high grades"

4. “Assisted with filing, billing, printing and coping”

5. "Required to use my exceptional attention to to detail"

6. "Completed curses in French and Spanish"

7. "Responsible for ruining the entire department whilst manager was away"

8. "Accomplishments: Oversight of entire department."

9. "Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you shorty"

10. “Interests include eating Big Macs...”

We’re sure you’ll agree that there are some classics there and although they are very amusing, they teach us a valuable lesson – don’t just rely on spell check! Make sure you proof read your CV at least once before sending it to anyone!

Yellow Cat Recruitment Embraces Online Marketing to Take 2009 by Storm

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation industry statistics state that there was a 16.8% decrease in industry turnover from 2007/2008 to 2008/2009. With such an enormous decrease how do recruitment agencies survive?

Established in 2006, Yellow Cat Recruitment recognised that due to the dramatically changing industry landscape it was essential to adapt its business strategy in order to remain at the forefront of the recruitment industry.

Throughout 2009 Yellow Cat Recruitment implemented a new marketing strategy which highlighted the need to increase their online presence. A partnership with top search engine marketing agency 4Ps Marketing was formed. 4Ps Marketing offer sustainable Search Engine Optimisation, Pay Per Click Management and Search Engine Marketing consultancy services. Yellow Cat Recruitment has decided to focus on search engine marketing initially to increase brand awareness.

The next phase was to incorporate social media. Yellow Cat Recruitment now post all of their new vacancies on Facebook and Twitter and also write regular blog posts about the recruitment industry.

With robust recruitment procedures, employers can be assured that they will receive only the highest quality candidates, as Yellow Cat Recruitment search for the very best talent around. Each candidate undertakes the Yellow Cat vetting process which includes a preliminary telephone interview, a face-to-face meeting, appropriate software testing and an innovative NLP Meta-programming method of questioning.

As Yellow Cat Recruitment aims to establish lasting relationships with its clients, the agency gains an understanding of each individual working environment and company ethos. This means that the agency is able to assist with any recruitment needs that companies may have, however last-minute. Whether it is finding temporary staff for London admin jobs, to permanent human resources jobs in London, Yellow Cat can make the recruitment process run as smoothly as possible.

Although the market certainly dipped in 2009, Yellow Cat’s client led approach coupled with the online strategy, has ensured that they weathered the credit crunch storm and are continuing to enjoy much success. In stark contrast to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation industry statistics, Yellow Cat’s turnover increased by 108% from 2007/08 to 2008/09.

Furthermore to cope with an increase in demand, Yellow Cat has recently hired Rose Bernez to work as a consultant in the Temporary Division. Rose Bernez comments:

“I am extremely proud to have joined the Yellow Cat Recruitment team and look forward to a bright future together”.

As the market continues to pick up the team is expected to grow even further in the coming months.

With business booming and the team getting bigger, 2010 looks to be a record-breaking year for Yellow Cat Recruitment.
